Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Stormwater Engineer to join our Transportation Team, contributing to planning and design of drainage infrastructure across road networks and interchanges for DOT and municipal clients. You will use a wide range of design software to develop plans and analyses, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and guide junior engineers.

Required: 7+ years in drainage design and project management, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and an Engineer in Training credential.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of drainage design and project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • EIT certification required or in process.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to planning and design of stormwater/drainage projects for intersections, streets, expressways, interchanges.
  • Prepare construction plans, displays, cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
  • Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers; direct junior engineers.

Role accountabilities:

Arcadis is seeking a Stormwater Engineer to join our Transportation Team. In this role, you will contribute to the planning and design of stormwater/drainage infrastructure projects including intersections, collector streets, arterials, expressways, interstates, and interchanges. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative mobility solutions for our DOT and municipal clients.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Engineering design for numerous roadway drainage and design-build projects including collector streets, urban arterials, rural and urban expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across the southeast.
  • Assist in all aspects of roadway drainage design including bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system design, post construction water quality structures design, and erosion and sedimentation control.
  • Prepare construction plans and project displays.
  • Prepare cost estimates, reports and technical memos.
  • Utilize various design software including MicroStation, Inroads, GeoPak, Open Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3d, Microsoft Excel, GIS, HEC-RAS, HY8, FlowMaster, ICPR, StormCAD, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC-RAS 2D to assist with the design and preparation of construction plans.
  • Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.
  • Direct junior engineer's design activities.

  • 7+ years of drainage design and project management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

Key Attributes
  • Experience working on DOT projects a plus.
  • Basic understanding of FEMA floodplain regulations
  • Knowledge of stormwater design including open channel conveyance and closed drainage systems.
  • Knowledge of stormwater treatment using appropriate BMPs suitable for the linear nature of transportation projects.
  • Use of various software platforms including Bentley's StormCAD, CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, ICPR, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY8, ICPR, SWMM, SMS, SRH2D, and HEC-RAS 2D.
  • Possess good communication (written and verbal), teamwork skills and the flexibility to complete a wide range of tasks including field work.
  • Exhibit the initiative and ability to tackle new projects and other challenges regularly.
  • NCEES record a plus.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
