Job summary

Shrewsberry and Associates seeks a Stormwater Engineer-in-Training to join our Denver office. You will work on stormwater and transportation drainage projects from startup to final design, primarily in Colorado, with potential out-of-state work.

Strong communication and technical skills are essential. The role requires a Civil/Water Resources background and an Engineer-in-Training credential, with exposure to planned tools and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer SUDA, Civ3D SSA, CivilStorm, SRH2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS2D, HY-8.

Responsibilities

• Drainage design including storm sewers, culverts, water quality facilities, open channels, and bridge hydraulics.
• Assist in obtaining regulatory permits for projects.
• Ensure design standards and methodologies are properly applied.
• Assist in preparing design plans and drainage/water quality reports.
• Coordinate with project design teams to deliver complete, accurate work.

Shrewsberry and Associates is seeking a Stormwater Engineer-in-Training based out of our Denver office. The selected engineer will be technically proficient and have excellent communication skills. Duties will include engineering work on stormwater projects and transportation drainage related projects from initial startup through final design. The projects will be primarily located in Colorado but may also include work in other states.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drainage design including the design of storm sewers, culverts, water quality facilities, open channels, and bridge hydraulics.
• Understand and help guide projects through regulatory agency permitting processes
• Ensure proper standards and methodologies are being used on projects
• Assist in preparing design plans
• Assist in writing drainage and water quality reports
• Coordinate efforts as part of a design team to produce complete and accurate design work.
• Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and contribute to the growth of the Stormwater group.
• Responsible for drainage related tasks on stormwater and related design projects.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal stormwater management designs standards.
• Assist in design of erosion control and/or stormwater management plans.

• Experience with some or all of the following: Open Roads Designer SUDA, Civ3D SSA, CivilStorm, SRH2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS2D, HY-8

Preferred Education and/or Experience

• MS in Civil Engineering or Water Resources Engineering
• Experience working with CDOT
• Experience working with local municipalities
• Familiarity with GIS
• Proficiency in some or all of the following: ORD SUDA, Civ3D SSA, CivilStorm, SRH2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-RAS2D, HY-8

This is a full-time position with a base salary that ranges between $75,000 - $90,000 per year. In addition to salary, you are eligible for equity and a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k, and PTO.
