Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Fort Myers, FL office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our Stormwater team. This is not a remote position, and the role is on-site in Fort Myers.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams on a range of water resources projects for public and private clients. You will prepare hydraulic and hydrologic studies, drainage reports, and design documents, and assist with scopes of work, budgets, and client communications.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with potential to lead a practice and manage clients and a team.

  • Work on surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, flood studies, green infrastructure planning and design.
  • Prepare Hydraulic/Hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents and plans.
  • Technical writing for memorandums, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (CLOMR/LOMR to FEMA) and master plans.
  • Assist with scopes of work and budgets; support watershed and stormwater master planning.
  • Contribute to CIP development and report/planning level documents.
  • Engage with jurisdictions and contractors to build strong professional relationships.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Fort Myers, Florida (FL) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join their Stormwater team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Support our growing water resources practice and will require working with multi-disciplinary teams for a variety of existing and new public and private clients
  • Work in a dynamic team environment on a range of projects including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis and design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, green infrastructure planning and design
  • Prepare Hydraulic/Hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for water resources projects
  • Technical writing in the form of memorandums, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (including CLOMR/LOMR submittals to FEMA), and master plans
  • Assist with developing scopes of work and associated budgets
  • Watershed master planning, stormwater master planning
  • Report or planning level documents CIP development
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects
  • You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, and other related hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and design software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated; sense of urgency to produce high quality work
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the potential/desire to lead a practice and manage clients and a team
