Job description

This position involves assisting with the installation and operation of a remote TV camera system to capture video inside storm sewer pipes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Collect stormwater and surface water samples; perform analytical tests.
  2. Set up cable stands over manholes; position the camera in sewer lines; operate cable stand handles to move the camera inside pipes.
  3. Drive a pickup truck to transport crew and equipment.
  4. Service, adjust, and perform minor repairs on camera equipment and attachments as needed.
  5. Communicate with supervisors via radio or telephone.
  6. Continuously seek to improve operations and work processes, fostering teamwork and customer service.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions for electronic systems.
  • Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and keep records; skill in reading blueprints.
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
  • Skill in interpreting various graph types.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Typically requires specialized training in the occupational field, along with basic skills from a high school education. Sufficient experience (usually 1-2 years) in a similar role or completing an apprenticeship/internship is expected. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license for the vehicle/equipment operated.

Work involves sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, crouching, and lifting objects, often with high dexterity. Employees work near moving mechanical parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and sometimes in confined spaces, with exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, gases, and airborne particles.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
  • Balance, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing (normal and detailed), kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, stooping, talking, visual acuity (data analysis, color perception, accuracy).

The work environment is typically an office, library, or computer room.
