Job summary

RTX in Tucson, AZ seeks a Systems Engineer intern focused on hardware integration and verification testing within the SE&T ASDS group. You will support integration and qualification testing of effector systems in flight and ground environments, and contribute to test plan development and data analysis.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a STEM degree, available by summer 2027, and eligible for U.S. security clearance. The role is onsite with potential conversion to full‑time upon graduation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related STEM field by summer 2027.
  • Experience with systems hardware, software, integration, or testing.
  • Experience with MATLAB or similar tools.
  • Experience with GD&T.
  • Experience may be obtained through coursework, projects, or on-the-job learning.

Responsibilities

  • Perform integration, verification, and qualification testing of Effector systems in flight and ground test environments to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements.
  • Develop and implement test plans, procedures, integration, and verification documentation in both simulated and real-world environments and then perform/execute the test.
  • Troubleshoot and Analyze: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and system issues through detailed data analysis and debugging.
  • Familiarity with failure reporting, analysis, corrective action and/or fault tree analysis.
  • Document and Communicate: Create/modify documentation in support of reviews associated with formal testing.
  • Collaborate: Interface and coordinate across the different company functions and with the customers, suppliers, and/or sub-contractors.

In Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) we integrate, verify, and validate our products. We put our systems together, exercise them in the lab or in the field, measure and analyze performance, and make sure our products work the first time and every time. To accomplish this, we develop plans and procedures, debug and evaluate system functions and interfaces, develop test environments, and work together with our customers.

The Systems Integration and Test Air and Space Defense Systems (ASDS) Department within the SE&TC Effectors Center is seeking Systems Engineers focused on Hardware Integration and Qualification/Verification testing. In this role you will be hands- on, supporting the successful completion of test events and the associated analysis of test data.

This role is onsite in Tucson, AZ

What You Will Do:
  • Perform integration, verification, and qualification testing of Effector systems in flight and ground test environments to ensure the system under test performs according to specifications/requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by summer 2027.
  • Experience with systems hardware, systems software, systems integration, and/or systems test.
  • Experience with MATLAB or similar tools.
  • Experience with GD&T
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience creating integration and verification strategies.
  • Experience in integration with test equipment, telemetry data analysis tools, and other lab equipment
  • Experience collecting and evaluating data to diagnose and solve technical issues.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

  • Relocation Eligibility

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
