Job summary

Commonwealth of VA Careers is seeking a part-time team member to stand-by for call-in work to support storm preparation and snow removal. The role involves assisting with clearing roadways, applying abrasives, and performing debris cleanup to keep highways safe.

You will operate vehicles and equipment, work 12-hour shifts, day or night, and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Valid driver’s license and safety footwear are required. Training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
Valid driver’s license.
Safety shoes required.
A combination of training, experience or education in Emergency Operations or snow removal is desired.

Responsibilities

Emergency Operations: Assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways, applying abrasives and chemicals on road surfaces.
Manual Labor: Perform heavy manual labor such as installing tire chains, plow blades, and perform debris removal.
Perform duties as assigned.: Perform duties, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
Preventative Maintenance: Ability to perform preventative maintenance on equipment used during inclement weather to support emergency operations and clearing roadways.
