Smurfit Westrock in Dallas, TX is seeking a Storeroom Manager to lead onsite inventory, supervise one union hourly employee, and optimize parts flow to support plant operations.

You will manage cycle counts, data entry, requisitions, and vendor coordination, ensuring accuracy and compliance while partnering with Maintenance Planner to keep parts available and costs in check.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Experience with inventory management and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Oversee onsite storeroom operations and cycle counts.
• Supervise one union hourly employee and coordinate with Maintenance Planner.
• Manage inventory levels, min/max, and supplier requisitions.
• Record receipts accurately in accounting systems and verify data.
• Support vendor coordination and parts availability for maintenance.

Position: Storeroom Manager

The Opportunity:

• Manage overall storeroom responsibilities (onsite), reporting to the Mill Finance Manager.
• Direct supervisory responsibility for one union hourly employee
• Manage inventory optimization, including reorder points, stock movement, obsolescence, consignment and order-on-demand parts, offsite inventory, new item additions, and satellite inventory flow.
• Achieve financial objectives through disciplined metric management, opportunity identification, and targeted action planning.
• Support purchasing activities through the creation and execution of requisitions for storeroom and maintenance parts and supplies.
• Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure critical parts are available for asset maintenance and ongoing plant operations.
• Monitor vendor requisitions and inventory levels to maintain compliance with established min/max guidelines.
• Perform daily cycle counts, spot counts, and audits in compliance with inventory management requirements, including maintaining absolute value compliance.
• Oversee receiving, confirmation, and accurate and timely recording of receipts in the accounting systems and notify the requisitioner when items are received.
• Coordinate vendor repairs for storeroom and maintenance parts to support equipment reliability and plant operations.

• Generate savings through optimization of the storeroom/inventory management.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean storeroom to support a safe work environment.
• Partner with the Maintenance Planner to support job kitting and ensure parts are available when needed.
• Understand and apply reorder point purchasing processes.
• Provide backup support to the Purchasing Manager
• Identify and support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

• Previous inventory and storeroom experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience preferred
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 40 pounds unaided
• Computer and Excel literate with ability to enter, update, and verify data accurately in databases and spreadsheets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize data and generate accurate reports
