Job summary

dnata Catering USA in El Segundo, CA seeks a Storeroom Lead to provide advanced receiving, inventory control, and storeroom support. You will ensure accurate receipt, storage, movement, and documentation of food, beverages, and supplies in line with quality and food safety standards.

The role acts as a technical resource, conducts cycle counts, assists onboarding, and partners with the Storeroom Supervisor to maintain efficient daily operations. Supervision not included.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; 3+ years receiving/inventory control or storeroom experience.
  • Experience in airline catering, food manufacturing, hospitality, or high-volume environments preferred.
  • ERP or inventory management systems experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries against POs for accuracy, quality and temperature.
  • Document inventory transactions and ensure accuracy in systems.
  • Perform cycle counts and support inventory reconciliation.
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO practices and proper storage of refrigerated, frozen, and dry goods.
  • Fulfill requisitions for production departments and airline customers promptly.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff; act as a resource for procedures.
  • Follow HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, TSA, OSHA and dnata policies; report issues.

The Storeroom Lead serves as a senior-level member of the Supply Chain team, providing advanced operational support for receiving, inventory control, and storeroom functions while performing all essential duties of the Receiving Clerk position. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, movement, and documentation of food, beverage, and operational supplies in accordance with dnata Catering’s quality, food safety, and inventory control standards. The Storeroom Lead acts as a technical resource for receiving and inventory processes, supports inventory accuracy through routine audits and cycle counts, assists with employee onboarding and procedural training, and collaborates closely with the Storeroom Supervisor to promote efficient daily operations. This position does not have supervisory or disciplinary responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving Operations
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders for accuracy, quality, quantity, expiration dates, and temperature requirements.
  • Identify and document damaged, missing, or incorrect shipments and communicate discrepancies promptly to the Storeroom Supervisor.
  • Accurately complete receiving documentation and inventory transactions within inventory management systems.
  • Ensure all incoming products meet dnata quality and food safety standards before acceptance.
Inventory Control
  • Perform advanced inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and stock verification.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages, overages, damaged goods, or obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation utilizing FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) inventory practices.
  • Verify products are stored correctly within refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage areas.
Storeroom Operations
  • Accurately fulfill requisitions for production departments and airline customers in a timely manner.
  • Assist with airline oven packing and special customer requests as operational needs require.
  • Break down deliveries, organize inventory, and replenish stock locations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready receiving and storage areas.
  • Assist kitchen and production teams by providing requested inventory promptly.
Operational Support
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding receiving procedures, inventory processes, product locations, and storeroom operations.
  • Support onboarding by demonstrating established receiving and inventory procedures to newly hired employees.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate receiving records and inventory documentation.
  • Report equipment issues, inventory discrepancies, product quality concerns, and operational challenges to the Storeroom Supervisor.
  • Support departmental initiatives focused on improving inventory accuracy, organization, and operational efficiency.
Food Safety & Compliance
  • Comply with all HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, TSA, OSHA, and dnata food safety and sanitation policies.
  • Maintain proper product handling, storage, labeling, temperature control, and sanitation practices.
  • Assist with internal audits, customer inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Immediately report any food safety or quality concerns.
Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, lifts, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or workplace hazards immediately.
Other Duties

Perform all Receiving Clerk responsibilities as operational needs require. Additional duties as assigned by management.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of three (3) years of receiving, warehouse, inventory control, or food service storeroom experience. Experience within airline catering, food manufacturing, hospitality, warehouse distribution, or high-volume production environments preferred. Experience using ERP or inventory management systems preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Thorough understanding of receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, and material handling practices.
  • Working knowledge of FIFO and FEFO inventory management principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP or inventory management software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, overtime, and varying shifts.
