Bowie State University is seeking a Storekeeper III to oversee inventory management and supply distribution within the Asset Management department. This role involves leading operations, training personnel, and maintaining property records. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and two years of related experience, with strong skills in handling supplies and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Receives, inspects, and verifies shipments for compliance with delivery documents and purchase order specifications. Processes receiving documents. Tags, labels, etches, or marks for identification all supplies, materials, and equipment received.
Leads daily operations. Determines work priorities, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews work.
Fills store requisitions for issuing supplies, materials, and equipment. Routes and/or delivers supplies, materials, and equipment to designated locations.
Ensures inventory levels by conducting physical inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Prepares routine logs, forms, or tally sheets of daily operations.
Implements procedures for maintaining departmental storage facilities in an orderly manner.
Identify, manage and the tagging and recording of new capital and sensitive property acquisitions. Identify, typically through departmental requests, and update records for corrections and disposals.
Plan, coordinate and manage/supervise the physical inventory/audit cycle. This includes performing or supervising such tasks as: developing an audit schedule, contacting and coordinating the physical inventory work with departments, conduction the physical inventory, the preparation of departmental inventory reports, following up with departments on reconciling discrepancies, preparing interim and final departmental reports, preparing final inventory cycle reports.
Prepare reports: building and department physical inventory, year-end activity and other special reports as needed. Prepare depreciation schedules for Financial Services.
Develop and assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures manual and internal procedures manuals.
Work closely with contractor’s to oversee the maintenance and, when necessary, the updating of the department’s asset management software.
Supervises and trains subordinate personnel; determines work priorities, plans schedules, assigns and reviews work.
Collects the information for new assets bought on BSU purchase orders and tags the assets before they are delivered to the end users.
Receives and inspects shipments for compliance with both delivery documents and purchase order specifications. Tags, labels, etches, or marks for identification all supplies, materials, and equipment received.
Assists with preparation of special reports for both capital and noncapital assets.
Manages the entire Bowie State University Warehouse and Mailroom Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE: Two years related work experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
General knowledge of the procedures and practices of issuing and storing supplies, materials, and equipment. Skill in operating warehouse material handling equipment. Ability to perform basic mathematics; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to follow directions; to provide guidance and instruction to others; to operate computers and other standard office equipment; to establish and maintain effective work relationships; to perform extensive standing, walking, and climbing; to lift, transport and stock assigned supplies and materials; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
Conditions of Employment:
Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. Valid Maryland Non-commercial Class C or Commercial Class B or equivalent driver’s license may be required. If required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, employees will be subjected to drug and alcohol education and testing as required under Federal Highway Administration and the State of Maryland regulations.
