Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a Store Visual Merchandiser in Merrillville, IN to create engaging store displays, plan layouts, and coordinate signage, lighting, and product placement under Visual Leadership.

You will develop merchandising strategies that enhance the shopping experience, stay current with fashion trends, and mentor staff on visual standards while maintaining store appearance and operations.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the US.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in retail store visual merchandising.
• Regularly lift objects over 50 lbs and transport loads of 100 lbs.
• Associate degree in interior design, merchandising, or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain reliable attendance and thrive in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement a visual merchandising strategy to support sales and financial objectives.
• Create visually appealing displays and coordinate layout plans for furniture, lighting, and accessories.
• Re-merchandise displays, signage, POS, and selected areas to maximize product sell-through and coordinate floor moves.
• Complete store recovery processes and maintain interior/exterior appearance with warehouse/housekeeping support.
• Coordinate product tagging, unpacking, and showroom placement; participate in bi-annual inventory.
• Ensure compliance with Visual Leadership standards and AV/music requirements; involve staff in visual maintenance.
• Develop knowledge of products, promotions, and store functions; keep up with fashion trends.
• Mentor store staff on merchandising basics and visual standards.

The Store Visual Merchandiser role creates visually engaging store displays, interior layouts, and well-balanced audio elements. Working under the guidance of Visual Leadership, the visual will use their creative skills to design and present merchandise in a way that enhances the overall shopping experience for our guests. By implementing innovative merchandising strategies, the Visual team contributes to creating a memorable and enjoyable shopping experience that helps to attract and retain customers.

What You’ll Do

• Implement a visual merchandising strategy that helps achieve the Company’s sales volume and financial objectives.
• Execute visually appealing and well-balanced store merchandising displays under the direction of Visual Leadership, coordinate layout plans for furniture, lighting, and accessories, and transition seasonal products.
• Remerchandise displays, signage, point-of-sale, and select areas regularly to maximize product sell-through. Execute floor moves or any other necessary changes consistent with the layout plan and product focus; communicate regularly with Visual management on sold items.
• Complete the store's recovery processes throughout the day. Maintain store interior and exterior appearance with the assistance of the warehouse and housekeeping associates. Initiate repair and maintenance of store lighting, fixtures, paint, flooring, etc., in conjunction with store management.
• Check-in and unpackage accessory merchandise and other product shipments in collaboration with the warehouse associate; coordinate product tagging, felt-dotting, and showroom placement; participate in the bi-annual inventory process.
• Adhere to all visual merchandising standards and bulletins provided by Visual Leadership. Ensure audio/visual items, such as store music, sign height, etc., comply with the communication standards to store associates and involve associates in the visual maintenance of the store.
• Develop high levels of knowledge on all Company products, promotions, and store functions; keep up to date on fashion styles and trends.
• Mentor store staff on merchandising basics. Involve the staff in the visual maintenance of the store and assist in communicating with the Company’s visual merchandising standards.
• Coordinate with the store manager regarding regular tasks & duties, visual needs, incoming products, point-of-sale materials, etc.
• Complete any additional tasks assigned by management.

What You Bring

• Legally authorized to work in the US.
• At least 18 years old.
• 2 years' experience in retail store visual merchandising, preferably in home furnishings preferred
• Regularly lift objects over 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to transport loads of 100 IBS with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Associate degree in interior design, merchandising, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain reliable attendance
• Thrive in a team environment.
