Job summary

Family Dollar in Jacksonville, NC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with daily store activities, merchandise organization, and store cleanliness while leading and training store associates under the Store Manager.

The role requires strong communication and customer service skills, the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment required.
• Excellent customer service, organization and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits/receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain store areas to company standards; keep sales floor stocked and stockroom organized.
• Protect and secure all company assets including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and procedures including safety guidelines and ensure compliance by associates.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Ensure cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
