Responsibilities and Qualifications

As Store Shift Supervisor at Pet Supplies Plus, you’re passionate about people and their pets. Providing exceptional, neighborly service during your workday, you will:

• Assist neighbors in choosing the perfect toy for a Labrador who loves to fetch.
• Greet weekly regular Bruno the Chihuahua when he comes in with his human mom.
• Show a fourth grader how to test the water in his fish tank.
• Set an example for other team members in delivering fantastic neighborly service.
• Assist store leaders by reinforcing daily operational procedures and performance expectations.
• Engage with PSP neighbors and smile through puppy breath!

Shift Supervisor key responsibilities include:

• Partner with store leaders to learn and reinforce PSP standards and management routines.
• Provide leadership coverage and manage store functions up to four times a week when managers are offsite.
• Adhere to operational policies on cleanliness, animal care, safety, and security.
• Perform back-office procedures such as updating signs, price changes, and cashier records.
• Participate in store recruiting, onboarding, and team development.
• Communicate opportunities for community engagement or store performance improvements.
• Act as a store team member when not acting as manager-on-duty or learning operational tasks.

Qualifications for PAWsome candidates:

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of retail experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong sales and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate equipment including a forklift, climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, reliable transportation, pass drug screening, and be 18 or older.
