Job summary

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Store Sales Associate I to provide outstanding customer service, assist with donation processing, and maintain an organized, mission-driven shop. You will operate the POS and balance cash drawers in line with store policies, helping to drive sales and support the store team.

Ideal candidates are reliable, capable of standing for long periods, and comfortable with flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

High school diploma or in progress is required.
Retail, customer service, or cashiering experience preferred.
Basic computer and cash-handling skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and work standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and represent The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
Greet donors and shoppers and assist with transactions at the register.
Operate the POS system and handle cash transactions accurately.
Open, close, and balance cash drawers per policies.
Maintain a clean, organized store and restock merchandise as needed.
Ensure merchandise is displayed properly and replenished.
Follow policies regarding the sale of donated goods.
Work collaboratively with team members and store management.
Support store productivity benchmarks and contribute to sales goals.
Be available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and some holidays.
