Job summary

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating manuals and procedures
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions to generate reports
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination processes (legal compliance)
• Knowledge of store security practices and cash controls
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to train and develop staff for performance improvement

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and ensure the store is properly staffed
• Provide training and conduct performance evaluations; address gaps and counseling including termination when needed
• Make recommendations regarding pay rate and advancement
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and ensure safety
• Open and close the store reliably each day
• Analyze operating statements for sales, profitability, and trends
• Manage ordering to meet stock targets and review weekly plans
• Staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following company processes
• Present merchandise according to standards, including pricing and signage
• Maintain inventory accuracy and security over cash, keys and assets
• Provide superior customer service leadership and maintain a clean, safe store environment
• Ensure compliance with policies and store procedures
• Complete all required paperwork on time
• Foster staff development and cross-training
• Recruit and train qualified applicants to meet store needs
