Job summary

Academy Sports + Outdoors is seeking an Operations Manager in New York to drive store performance, leadership, and operational excellence. You’ll coach teams, manage inventory flow, labor planning, and merchandising execution on the sales floor while upholding safety and service standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Store Directors and Team Leads, with a focus on developing leadership capability and delivering exceptional customer experiences. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant leadership or management experience required
• Demonstrated success leading departments of up to 40 team members while driving operational excellence and achieving sales targets
• Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop people
• Solid business acumen with the ability to interpret operational and financial data
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations and ensure sales, service, and safety standards are met
• Lead and coach store teams to translate strategy into action
• Plan priorities with store leaders and respond quickly to business needs
• Monitor inventory flow, labor planning, and merchandising execution
• Prepare the store for broader leadership opportunities through development initiatives
