Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is seeking a Head Clerk in California to maintain store conditions and supervise staff across departments, ensuring excellent customer service and merchandising execution. This role also supports Center Store operations and adherence to safety and cleanliness standards.

Key responsibilities include overseeing promotions, inventory, and staff duties, plus handling checkout procedures and additional clerk tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months as Key Carrier or 9 months as Perimeter Department Manager or equivalent grocery retail management experience.
• Ability to work a variety of required retail hours.
• Strong knowledge of product, pricing, store operations and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ads/promotions/seasonal changes and perform display set-ups, schematics/resets, signage, and store decoration.
• Monitor sales, take inventory, analyze advertised sales, and submit product orders.
• Stock merchandise shelves and displays safely to maintain appearance and ensure supplies.
• Oversee and direct checkers, service clerks and others for efficient customer service and staffing.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment for customers and associates.
• Check out and total customer purchases.
• Perform other Senior or General Clerk assignments.
