Job summary

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department to respond to questions and suggest items.
• Recommend grocery items and inform customers of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products customers ordered.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with current, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud.
