A Successful Store Manager

The Store Manager is the in-store champion of the company mission to deliver exceptional service through educating our customers and sharing ideas on pet health, well-being and happiness.

  • Role models the PetPeople Experience through building enduring customer relationships.
  • Builds community partnerships.
  • Recruits, develops, motivates and leads the team of pet enthusiasts (6-8 associates) in building customer relationships, sales, store operations, merchandising.
  • Provides coaching, accountability and continuous training for team development.
  • Manages scheduling within a specified budget.
  • Manages payroll and store expenses.
  • Merchandises effectively.
  • Drives sales and delivers results through educating and entertaining customers.
  • Enforces all company policies, procedures and directives.
  • Celebrates successes and loves to help pets thrive!

You Must Have

  • A love of pets and a genuine interest in animal nutrition and welfare.
  • A strong focus on building customer relationships through excellent customer service.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage all aspects of a team of 6-8 people.
  • Must be extremely self-motivated, hands on and results oriented; be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced, multiple priority environment.
  • Ability to move merchandise up to 50lbs. frequently.
  • Communication and problem solving skills.
  • A minimum of 2 + years of experience in specialty retail management (pet industry a plus) required.
