What is the work?
Management / Leadership
  • Making employment-related and business decisions, including product- and department-related strategies, hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding, or otherwise engaging in resolving Partner-related matters
  • Ensuring appropriate inventory levels
  • Managing / controlling shrink to meet or exceed Corporate strategy goals
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards for product freshness, food safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
  • Delegating work based on skills, interests, and capabilities
  • Monitoring progress and following up on assignments
  • Accountable for labor and production schedules; communicating schedules to Department Managers
  • Fostering teamwork among Partners
  • Coaching and providing real-time feedback to develop Partners and achieve results
  • Managing performance and development of Partners related to in-store merchandising issues
  • Owning personal development through ongoing leadership and product knowledge training
Sales
  • Developing merchandising strategies that optimize financial performance and align with corporate strategy and customer trends
  • Executing and tailoring corporate merchandising plans to achieve profitability
  • Communicating profitability expectations to Store Partners
  • Participating in the Store Leadership Team for coordination and alignment
  • Monitoring local competition to sustain the Every Day Low Price strategy
What is your background?
  • Bachelor's degree or proven management experience
  • Extensive operational experience
  • Food Safety certification
Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Store Leader?
  • Knowledge of government regulations
  • Knowledge of product presentation, cross-merchandising, and profit mix
  • Knowledge of marketing to customer trends and segments
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehouse, and procurement processes
  • Understanding of marketing concepts like markdowns, seasonal strategies, display locations
  • Proficiency in MS Office and H-E-B systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Analytical and execution management skills
  • Proven leadership and change management abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to stressful situations
  • Passion for selling and service with a focus on product integrity
