Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to lead store operations, staff, and customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. You will manage staffing, training, performance evaluations, and adherence to company policies, while driving sales and profitability through effective inventory control and merchandising.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a focus on compliance with federal and state labor laws.

Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret documents including diagrams and procedures.
Mathematical calculations including percentages.
Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
Experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing and termination practices including legal compliance.
Understanding of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to laws and company policies.
Provide training, conduct evaluations, and address performance issues.
Make compensation and advancement recommendations.
Communicate performance, safety and policy expectations regularly.
Open/close the store reliably multiple times per week.
Analyze sales, profitability, and inventory trends to identify opportunities.
Manage stock levels, cycle counts, and replenishment processes.
Ensure proper presentation, pricing and signage for all merchandise.
Maintain inventory accuracy and cash controls.
Provide strong customer service leadership and a safe environment.
Ensure store is clean, organized, and properly equipped.
