The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) program is designed to prepare you for a future Store Manager position at CVS. This development-focused role involves a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks, combining virtual and hands-on learning experiences. Support for your growth includes guidance from your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Key skills for this role include:

  1. Effective verbal and written communication to support and lead your team.
  2. Customer care duties to ensure high service levels.
  3. Executing merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  4. Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

Our expectations for SMITs are:

  1. Actively engaging with your leader during Key Learning Experiences.
  2. Supporting your store as a management team member in line with CVS values and policies.
  3. Engaging colleagues to support the company's purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
  4. Willingness to accept promotion roles within the market.

Note: Selection as an SMIT does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. Promotions depend on performance, availability, and other factors. Candidates must be willing to transfer within the market and work flexible schedules.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Relevant retail management experience or CVS supervisory experience is also valued.
