MANAGER IN TRAINING (MIT)

Reports to: DISTRICT MANAGER

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary/Objective

The MIT role is an accelerated and intensive training program preparing for a Store Manager position. The MIT will collaborate closely with the District Manager and Store Manager to learn the rent-to-own business, perform duties across store operations including customer service, account management, revenue maximization, customer base growth, and inventory management. The MIT will observe experienced staff to learn methods, procedures, standards, and become familiar with store and Field Support Center staff functions. All functions should align with RAC's mission statement and core values.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The MIT will:

1. Set daily and weekly sales goals, oversee coworker sales activities, approve rental agreements, and monitor results for revenue and growth.
2. Set goals for collections, oversee collection activities, follow up on difficult accounts, approve customer commitments, and ensure coworker compliance with collection procedures.

Leadership:

1. Manage store resources to meet profit goals, control expenses, and oversee staffing, including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring in collaboration with HR and the District Manager.
2. Create a positive work environment to retain coworkers and reduce turnover.
3. Support company policies, train coworkers in customer service, and monitor sales and account management skills through coaching.
4. Protect assets through expense and inventory control, cash handling, and security measures.
5. Ensure the store's appearance and merchandising are at their best to attract customers.

Required Education and Experience

• 3-5 years of retail/management experience
• Completion of RAC’s Store Manager Development Program, 4th Gear
• Ability to perform all essential job functions at the Assistant Manager level
• Proficiency in store operation applications and a valid driver’s license with a good record

Supervisory Responsibilities

Full-time, Monday through Saturday, with variable hours and possible overtime based on business needs.
