Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and store operations. This role focuses on developing internal candidates for future Store Manager positions and will be held for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling while ensuring compliance with company policies and security procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager’s absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends, expenses, and inventory issues.
• Complete paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
