MITs receive fast-tracked training to develop into responsible retail managers.

Multiple MIT positions are available at various Runnings locations.

The MIT will learn to manage store operations while ensuring high customer service levels. Candidates must be willing to relocate and work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training involves operating equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts, and pickers, which can be physically demanding, including lifting 10-50 pounds, bending, reaching, and kneeling. Activities may occur in different conditions and involve movement across store areas. Relocation assistance may be available.

Hourly Pay Range: $18.00-25.00 (Depending on Experience). Position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and provide prompt, courteous customer service.
  • Resolve issues affecting store service, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Monitor sales and expenses to manage profitability and budgets.
  • Learn responsibilities across store departments including receiving, inventory, stocking, and ecommerce.
  • Display merchandise and ensure proper stock management.
  • Assist in hiring, employee misconduct investigations, performance evaluations, and store evaluations.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Strive for customer satisfaction and be open to relocation and advancement opportunities.
  • Travel to other store locations and company events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights, weekends, and peak seasons.
  • Ability to build rapport, trust, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Understanding of management principles related to budgeting and personnel costs.
  • Proficiency with store equipment such as dollies, forklifts, and cash registers.
  • Compliance with state and local requirements for handling firearms and alcohol.
Qualifications
  • Minimum three years of retail sales experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods, up to four hours.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Perform activities involving bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and moving across store areas.
  • Operate a vehicle as needed.
