The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role crafted to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position.

The SMIT program is designed to enhance your career as a future store leader. We support your development toward the store manager role through a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks.

We provide virtual and hands-on learning experiences to develop your leadership skills. Our team supporting your growth includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and your Store Manager coach.

Skills Needed for This Role
  • Effective verbal and written communication to support and lead your team.
  • Customer care duties to provide high service levels.
  • Executing merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  • Managing store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

We expect our SMITs to:

  • Engage actively with your leader during Key Learning Experiences to support your promotion pathway.
  • Support your store as a management team member, leading in alignment with CVS values and policies.
  • Engage colleagues in supporting CVS’s purpose of helping people on their path to better health.
  • Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market.

Promotion to Store Manager is not guaranteed and depends on performance and open positions.

  • Willingness to accept a Store Manager role at any location within the market.
  • Ability to transfer to other CVS stores in the market.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; relevant work experience may substitute.

Pay Range: $18.50 - $26.25 per hour
