The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) job is a development-focused role designed to prepare you for a CVS Store Manager position. The SMIT program aims to enhance your career as a future store leader through a self-paced, collaborative training over 16 weeks, incorporating virtual and hands-on learning experiences. Support for your growth includes your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

Skills needed for this role include:

  1. Verbal and written communication skills to support and lead your team.
  2. Customer care duties to provide high levels of service.
  3. Execution of merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  4. Management of store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

Our expectations for SMITs are:

  1. Actively engage with your leader during Key Learning Experiences to support your promotion path.
  2. Support your store as a management team member, leading in alignment with CVS values and policies.
  3. Engage colleagues to support the company's purpose of "helping people on their path to better health."
  4. Be willing to accept promotion roles within your market.
  5. Understand that selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager, which depends on performance and openings.
  6. Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion at any location within your market.
  7. Ability to transfer within CVS stores in your market.
  8. Flexibility to work varying schedules based on business needs.

Minimum qualifications include:

  1. High School diploma or GED (required).
  2. Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  3. Retail management experience or experience as a CVS Supervisor.
