The Store Manager In Training (SMIT) program is designed to prepare you for a future Store Manager position at CVS. This 16-week, self-paced program combines virtual and hands-on learning experiences to develop your leadership skills. Support for your growth includes guidance from your District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and Store Manager coach.

  1. Develop strong verbal and written communication skills to lead your team effectively.
  2. Perform customer care duties to ensure high service levels.
  3. Implement merchandising strategies to support store sales growth.
  4. Manage store inventory and assets to maintain profitability.

We expect SMITs to:

  1. Engage actively with leadership in Key Learning Experiences to support promotion readiness.
  2. Support store operations as part of the management team, aligning with CVS values and policies.
  3. Engage colleagues in supporting the company's purpose of 'helping people on their path to better health.'
  4. Be willing to accept promotion roles within the market.

Note: Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion to Store Manager. Promotion depends on performance and available openings. Candidates must be willing to accept a Store Manager role at any location within the market and be able to transfer as needed. A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant retail management experience or CVS supervisory experience is also valued.
