Job summary

The Cavender’s Store Manager in Houston leads all aspects of store operations, driving sales, profitability, safety, and a top-tier customer experience. As the leader of the Store Management Team, you coach and develop colleagues, uphold standards, and model Cavender’s Mission, Vision and Values on the sales floor.

You’ll manage scheduling, payroll, training, loss prevention, and compliance while delivering Best of the WEST service and ensuring the store stays well-stocked, clean, and visually

Qualifications

  • Progressive retail management experience with a proven ability to lead store operations, achieve business results, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, conflict resolution, organizational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze business metrics, prioritize competing demands, and implement action plans in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and business reports, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and position merchandise and safely operate store equipment in accordance with company policies.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours as business needs require, while remaining alert and productive throughout scheduled work hours.

  • Maintain active role in personal selling, meeting or exceeding sales per hour goals.
  • Train all other associate positions in the store (Cashier, Sales Associate, Key Carrier, Receiver, Stocker, etc.).
  • Serve as a product expert and lead the training of store associates, coaching them on sales techniques and product knowledge.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure store environment and report safety/security incidents promptly and maintain records.
  • Lead in Loss Prevention measures in the store.
  • Lead and support team members to deliver Best of the WEST customer service and keep the store well-stocked and organized.
  • Keep the store looking clean and well-presented by following visual standards and setting clear expectations with associates.
  • Drive store performance and results for sales, payroll, and customer experience through use of systems and reports.
  • Manage scheduling and payroll with attention to timecard accuracy and compliance.
  • Handle customer issues or personnel matters in partnership with HR and leadership.
  • Lead company initiatives with the store team.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Store Manager leads all aspects of store operations while creating an exceptional customer experience and delivering business results. As the leader of the Store Management Team, the Store Manager is responsible for driving sales, profitability, operational excellence, and talent development. This role builds high-performing teams through coaching, accountability, and leadership while ensuring the store operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and standards. The Store Manager maintains an active presence on the sales floor, leads by example, and fosters a culture focused on delivering Best of the WEST customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Maintain active role in personal selling, meeting or exceeding sales per hour goals.
  • Perform and train all other associate positions in the store (Cashier, Sales Associate, Key Carrier, Receiver, Stocker, etc.).
  • Serve as a product expert and lead the training of store associates, coaching them on sales techniques, product knowledge and company expectations (ADS, UPTs, etc.).
  • Contribute to a safe and secure store environment and report any safety/security accidents or incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager promptly and ensures proper records are kept and maintained.
  • Understand and execute all company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance.
  • Actively lead in Loss Prevention measures in the store.
  • Lead and support team members to deliver Best of the WEST customer service to drive sales, keep the store well-stocked, organized and running smoothly.
  • Keeps the store looking clean and well-presented, both inside and outside by following visual standards, and making sure associates look neat and professional by setting clear expectations with associates.
  • Lead store performance and drive results to achieving goals for sales, payroll, and customer experience through effective use of systems, reports and processes.
  • Controls store labor through effective scheduling, planning and expectations as well as monitoring and correcting timecard exceptions and missed punches for store associates; approves final payroll bi-weekly.
  • Handle and elevate customer issues or personnel matters within the store in partnership with Human Resources, Regional Vice President, etc.
  • Leads company initiatives with the store associates.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements

Preferred experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Western related industries
