Job Details

Title: Cape Cod Community College Campus Store Manager

Department: University Gear Shop

Location: West Barnstable, MA

Reports to: EVP, Sales and Strategic Partnerships

Position Overview

The Store Manager will oversee all retail store operations, supervise daily activities, meet sales and profitability goals, and lead a customer-focused part-time sales team. Responsibilities include setting success standards, developing operational plans, managing inventory and cash flow, and collaborating with students, staff, faculty, and alumni to meet their product needs. The role also emphasizes implementing UGS's mission to foster community engagement and brand recognition through high-quality merchandise and service.

Key Responsibilities
In-store Selling Effectiveness
  • Demonstrate and sell products, explaining benefits and features to enhance customer experience.
  • Drive sales and traffic through strategic merchandising and achieve store metrics.
  • Maintain positive relationships with university officials, partners, and vendors.
  • Optimize staffing and store environment to maximize productivity and branding.
Direct Selling Effectiveness
  • Build relationships with campus departments and promote branded merchandise for events.
  • Collaborate with support teams to source and customize products, ensuring accurate quotes and timely delivery.
Team Building
  • Hire, train, and motivate a part-time sales team committed to excellent customer service.
  • Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Operational Excellence
  • Implement strategies to improve key performance indicators.
  • Manage inventory, online orders, expenses, and store policies.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with policies.
Community Outreach
  • Engage regularly with departments, faculty, and student groups.
  • Participate in community activities and establish an advisory committee.
Additional Duties

Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years in retail management, customer service, or merchandising.
  • Experience leading high-performing retail teams.
  • Apple certification and POS troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Product knowledge across apparel, hardgoods, and tech accessories is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile POS hardware.
