GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Store Manager Candidate assists the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, receiving, and handling store operations. This role is for developing external candidates for the Store Manager position and is temporary.
DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in recruiting and staffing.
- Support store merchandising: staging, stocking, presentation, signage, and pricing.
- Help manage inventory, including damages, markdowns, register scans, and paperwork.
- Follow ordering practices to meet stock targets.
- Provide excellent customer service leadership.
- Model company procedures and policies.
- Participate in store opening and closing.
- Ensure safe deposit of funds.
- Maintain store security and cash controls.
- Keep the store clean, stocked, and safe.
- Operate store in manager’s absence.
- Review financial statements for business trends and opportunities.
- Complete all required paperwork timely.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Ability to interpret documents, safety rules, and procedures.
- Mathematical skills including percentages and calculations.
- Cash handling and deposit procedures knowledge.
- Ability to learn IBM cash register functions.
- Understanding of inventory and merchandising practices.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and store policies.
- Recruitment, interviewing, and employment law knowledge.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Problem-solving abilities.
- Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.
WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least one year retail experience preferred for external candidates.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling.
- Handling merchandise and equipment regularly.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds frequently; up to 55 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional ladder use and driving.
- Fast-paced environment with moderate noise.
- Exposure to outside weather conditions.
This position requires some travel with limited overnight stays.
