Job summary

Columbia Sportswear Company in Thornton, CO, is seeking a Store Manager to lead day-to-day operations, drive sales, and foster an exceptional customer experience across our multi-brand portfolio.

You will plan staffing, coach teams, manage budgets, and execute marketing and promotional directives to grow sales and profitability while maintaining store standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or applicable certification or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of functional experience.
  • Experience managing individual contributors or leading a department.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to improve profitability and customer experience.
  • Proficient with POS systems and store software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the store team to develop, evaluate, and coach staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Inspire and develop associates and keyholders to meet growth plans and career paths.
  • Deliver operating budgets and manage expenses to meet profitability targets.
  • Ensure accuracy of store operations across Front and Back House functions.
  • Oversee hiring processes, payroll, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain inventory, replenish stock, and control shrink effectively.
  • Communicate market information and successes with Area/District management.

About the Position

With over 430 retail stores worldwide, our Store Leadership Teams are essential to our business. From ensuring effective store operations, strategies, and procedures, to guiding and developing team members, our Store Leadership Teams help create memorable customer experiences while supporting and helping drive the company’s mission of “Connecting Active People with Their Passions.” As the Store Manager, you will be a leader who plans and directs day-to-day operations of the store aimed to develop strategies to improve customer service, drive store sales, increase profitability, and execute marketing and promotional directives that will increase sales and grow our existing customer base. This role is responsible for maintaining high store standards, fostering a positive environment, forecasting staffing needs, and developing a recruiting strategy.

How you’ll make a difference
  • Lead the store team to develop, evaluate, and coach staff as necessary to maintain a high-level of service and quality to meet customer experience expectations.
  • Inspire, educate, guide, and develop associates and keyholders to meet short and long-range growth plans and career paths within the store, field, and general office.
  • Deliver operating budgets and manage expense control within division guidelines to deliver positive results and meet profitability expectations.
  • Ensure accuracy of all functions related to store operations to include both Front and Back House Operations.
  • Perform timely completion of all recordkeeping associated with applicants, new hires, payroll, performance reviews, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Maintains accurate and timely store records related to applicants, new hires, payroll, coaching, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels through effective replenishment, organization, shrink control, and communication.
  • Communicate regularly with Area/District Manager providing relevant market information and employee successes and challenges.
You have
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree, or applicable certification or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of functional experience
  • Experience managing individual contributors and a department or has acted as a lead.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: ability to resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems and drive decisions that impact finances, efficiency, and effectiveness of the store.
  • Skill operating a Point of Sales (POS) system, and various software packages.
Job Conditions

Frequently in a more active environment (i.e., it requires the ability to constantly move about) that can be physical or strenuous in nature (frequently adjusting/moving items weighing up to 40 lbs.), may frequently use specialized equipment, may have exposure to dust and noise. Occasionally it requires the ability to work in place. Ability to communicate with others. Occasional travel is required (approximately 5%) for meetings and to support business needs. Availability to work a flexible retail schedule, which may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts. Salary Range

Salary Range: $77,020 - $128,870. Expected Pay Range for Hire: $77,020 - $103,000. *Pay decisions are determined by multiple factors, including what the market is paying, a candidate’s capabilities and skills, years of experience, and internal equity.
