Job Objectives
Manages the operation of a Walgreen store.
Improves store sales, profitability, and image through proper merchandising, protection of store assets, the selection, training, and development of team members, and modeling and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience.
Job Responsibilities/Tasks
Customer Experience
- Monitors and analyzes customer service provided by team members, offering reminders, training, and encouragement, and developing action plans for improvement in retail and pharmacy.
- Greets customers and clinic patients, offering assistance with products and services.
- Models and shares customer service best practices to ensure a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
- Resolves customer complaints and responds to customers’ special needs.
Operations
- Supervises store and pharmacy operations, including shifts, task delegation, and scheduling.
- Controls store finances, including register counts, bank withdrawals, safe deposits, and bookkeeping.
- Supervises merchandising activities, including planning, resets, and promotional displays.
- Analyzes inventory trends, manages stock levels, and oversees receiving, stocking, and transferring merchandise.
- Implements feedback from District Manager and ensures store cleanliness, safety, and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Ensures staff is knowledgeable about all systems and software, responding to system issues promptly.
- Maintains respectful relationships with coworkers, complies with policies, and completes assigned tasks.
Daily Planning and Execution
- Assigns daily responsibilities and sets expectations for team members and assistant managers.
Business Performance Management
- Analyzes financial and performance data to develop action plans for sales growth and cost control.
- Reviews KPIs and asset protection data regularly.
- Works with pharmacy and clinic management to improve performance indicators.
Business Planning
- Identifies sales opportunities and manages inventory levels proactively.
People and Performance Management
- Manages team performance, hiring, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensures training completion and provides coaching and recognition.
- Fosters teamwork and fair treatment, and maintains open communication.
Training and Personal Development
- Participates in training programs, including Walgreens School of Operations.
- Seeks self-development and obtains required pharmacy technician licensure or certification.
Communications
- Serves as liaison between district, corporate, and store, and participates in community outreach and events.
External Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years retail management experience.
- Licensed pharmacy technician or pharmacy assistant as required by state law, or licensed RPh within 12 months of start date.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- PTCB or ExCPT Certification.
- Three years retail management experience, including supervising and managing work.
- Licensed pharmacy technician or RPh as required by state law.
