The Manager Trainee is responsible for learning the duties of the Store Manager position and developing the skills required for a Store Manager role. Primary duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, building the team, driving sales, managing inventory, managing profit and sales, expense control, reducing and managing shrink.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
As a Manager Trainee, you will observe and learn the following duties and skills required for a Store Manager role:
- Recruit, hire, develop, evaluate, discipline, and retain efficient team members.
- Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
- Greet the Customer.
- Uncover Customer Needs & Wants.
- Recommend Product Solutions.
- Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
- Create and foster a welcoming environment and sense of belonging in the Store, emphasizing diversity, equity, and inclusion among Team Members, Customers, Suppliers, and Communities.
- Schedule, organize, and plan daily activities for team members to ensure efficient store operations.
- Lead team members to ensure a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
- Communicate company processes, policies, and directives to team members. Evaluate those processes for effectiveness and coordinate with District/Regional Managers to improve them.
- Learn how to create a desirable work environment through promotions, recognition, and empowerment.
- Resolve problems and conflicts for team members and customers.
- Learn sales and profit management, aiming to achieve financial goals.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment.
- Manage daily merchandise flow to ensure adequate stock and inventory controls.
- Learn the process of organizing merchandise resets per company standards.
- Implement and sustain merchandise presentation standards.
- Evaluate the competitive environment and collaborate with Operations and Merchandising teams to ensure quality and performance.
- PAPERWORK: Train on processing invoices, schedules, product orders, returns, POs reports, sales forecasting, payroll analysis, and team member evaluations.
- INVENTORY: Train on managing price changes, communicating inventory needs, and solving inventory problems with relevant teams.
- SPECIAL PROJECTS: Learn to coordinate sales events, support district issues, and community involvement.
- TEAM MEMBER RELATIONS: Reinforce company values, address team member issues, and assess development opportunities.
- BUDGET/AUDITING: Be responsible for budgeting, sales forecasting, and store process audits.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Retail, farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge preferred. Supervisory experience is a plus. Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural-Science or Business preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Preferred knowledge, skills, or abilities
- Valid driver’s license for company driving.
- Proficiency with POS and system processing.
- Ability to read, write, and accurately complete documentation.
- Access to all store areas including sales floor, stock, and register.
- Operate store equipment like dollies, forklifts, computers, and registers.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends, and peak seasons.
- Minimum of 52 hours/week.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Travel to other stores and company events.
Working Conditions
- Normal office environment.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, walking, reaching overhead, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs.
