Job summary

Theisen's Home Farm Auto is seeking a Store Maintenance Associate to perform general maintenance, cleaning, and safety tasks to keep the store in top condition. Responsibilities include floor care, painting, basic electrical and plumbing tasks, and occasional deliveries and pickups.

Excellent punctuality and the ability to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends, are important. A HS diploma or GED is preferred, and OSHA training completion within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, electrical, plumbing, maintenance or repair work.
• Ability to operate power equipment such as floor buffer and forklift safely.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills for maintenance tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance duties to preserve store condition, including floors, painting, and general cleaning.
• Handle deliveries, drop-offs, and pickups as needed for the store.
• Maintain safety and OSHA compliance throughout the store environment.
• Load and unload items for shipments; assist with seasonal tasks and repairs.
• Keep restrooms clean and stocked; ensure equipment and supplies are functional.
• Follow hazardous materials handling guidelines and safety procedures.
• Assist with minor repairs on walls, displays, and shelving as directed by management.

Store Maintenance Associate

Job Description

Responsible for performing necessary maintenance duties in an effort to help preserve condition of the store. Duties will be varied and will include items such as stripping and polishing floors, painting, generic electrical, cleaning restrooms, plowing and shoveling snow. In addition to maintenance duties, they may make deliveries, drop-offs and pick-ups for store.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or trade school preferred
• 3-12 months of general maintenance experience preferred
• Completion of Lock Out/Tag Out OSHA Certification within 3 months of beginning employment
• Valid driver’s License with a clean driving record

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain generic electrical duties safely and appropriately
• Shoveling and salt driveways and parking lots and keep all areas safe for customer and associate traffic
• Refill pop machine and cooler, and maintain a complete inventory checklist for the machine
• Clean and maintain supplies and mechanical functionality of the restrooms
• Familiarize, interpret and incorporate safety requirements, environmental, Hazmat and OSHA rules and regulations throughout the store
• Load and unload items as necessary for customers or store truck shipments
• Other duties as request by management may include but are not limited to painting, general cleaning as needed, sweeping walks, cutting grass, performing other incidental seasonal tasks, making minor maintenance repairs such as repair minor damage in walls (forklift damage, etc.), simple plumbing issues (backed up toilets, etc.), applying caulk in bathroom, replacing broken floor tiles, assisting in repairing broken displays or shelving, and product assembly.

• Experience in constructing, electrical, plumbing, maintenance, repairing
• Ability to use power equipment such as floor buffer, forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Basic math skills including calculating, problem solving, and reasoning
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to read and understand the MSDS for products used and how to use them safely and effectively
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of self-motivation

Physical Demands

Frequent physical demands include lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, dexterity and light grasping. Occasional physical demands include lifting up to and over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, squatting, and firmly grasping. The associate is required to talk and hear. Must be able to work required shifts including nights and weekends, and maintain attendance standards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer/cash register and/or RF.

Work Environment and Working Conditions

Work will normally be performed inside of the store facility; however, some work may occasionally be performed outside in conditions ranging from cold below 32 degrees to heat above 100 degrees. The work environment is usually fast paced with regular deadlines and sales expectations. Extreme noise and vibrations may occasionally be experienced. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns, cuts, electrical, explosive, and mechanical. Due to the nature of the work, associates may be exposed atmospheric conditions such as dust fumes, odors, and poor ventilation. For the safety of our associates, all associates may be required to wear protective devices from time to time, depending on the job/task being performed.
