The Logistics Manager position is responsible for the overall management and execution of operational excellence for the entire store, with a focus on supervising and managing team members in store Logistics, including Merchandising, Logistics, and Receiving. It involves directing activities through subordinate team leads and employees. This leadership role aims to drive the store's overall performance and Logistics operations through effective supervision, communication, and coordination. The work directly impacts customer satisfaction, store profitability, and aligns with Academy's Purpose.

Job Description:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Work Experience:

  • At least three years of relevant experience required.
  • Successful leadership of departments with up to 40 staff to achieve operational excellence and sales goals.

Other Requirements:

  • Must meet federal and state requirements for firearms transactions.
  • Must qualify for and maintain FOID card (Illinois only).

Skills:

  • Strong supervisory and management skills; ability to coach and lead by example.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and business acumen.
  • Ability to interpret business documents and regulations.
  • Effective presentation and active listening skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory software, order processing, payroll systems, and MS Office.
  • Basic mathematical skills and ability to follow instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall store operations and logistics.
  • Participate in personnel decisions including hiring, training, and development.
  • Provide daily supervision to Logistics and Merchandising teams.
  • Develop strategies to meet operational goals and manage staffing and scheduling.
  • Oversee workforce productivity and process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with sales, safety, and security regulations.
  • Supervise execution of store plans and participate in store walk-throughs with leadership.
  • Audit firearm sales in compliance with laws, including completing ATF Form 4473 and background checks.
  • Complete necessary firearm and forklift certification training.
  • Participate in Academy Leadership University.
  • Manage the talent lifecycle of team members.
  • Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with flexibility for role changes.

Physical Requirements & Attendance:

  • Regular talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Lift/move up to 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Visual acuity including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
