Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager in Texas to lead daily store operations, oversee staffing, inventory, and merchandising, and ensure exceptional customer service. You will drive sales, manage expenses, and uphold safety and company policies while coordinating with district leadership.

The role requires strong leadership, experience in retail management, and ability to train and evaluate staff. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work a flexible schedule are expected.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is adequately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (including sales, profitability, and turn), expense control opportunities, potential shrink, and errors.
• Orders to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan, seasonal direction and inventory management issues on a weekly basis; follows up on Basic Stock Replenishment (BSR)/cycle counts.
• Facilitates the efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined Company work processes.
• Ensures that all merchandise is presented according to established practices; utilize merchandise fixtures properly including presentation, product pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensures the financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to stated Company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized store; facilitates a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
• Ensures that the store is adequately equipped with tools necessary to perform required tasks.
• Follows Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual, Employee Handbook, and Company communications; ensures employee compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation according to guidelines and deadlines.
