Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store manager to oversee all store processes, including staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking, and customer service. You will ensure safe operations, proper cash handling, and adherence to company policies, while leading a team to achieve sales and inventory goals.

The role requires at least a high school diploma and prior management experience in retail. Occasional early opening and late closing duties are expected, with emphasis on training and performance

Qualifications

• Reading documents such as diagrams and safety rules.
• Basic math calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and terminations including legal compliance.
• Familiar with cash, safety controls and security practices.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems in varied situations.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies; ensure staffing.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel as needed.
• Make recommendations on employee pay and advancement.
• Communicate performance and safety expectations; coordinate meetings.
• Open and close the store as needed; manage shifts.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends and costs.
• Manage inventory levels and replenishment plans weekly.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Ensure presentation and pricing of merchandise meets standards.
• Maintain secure cash handling and store security practices.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Keep the store clean, safe and well-organized.
• Ensure tools and equipment are available for tasks.
• Follow SOPs and ensure staff compliance.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
