Job summary

Dollar General in Alabama seeks an experienced store manager to lead all store operations, staffing, ordering, receiving, stocking, and customer service. You will train employees, conduct evaluations, monitor performance, manage scheduling, and ensure compliance with policies while maintaining a safe, well-organized store.

Additionally, you will oversee opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and daily reporting to ensure targets are met and the customer experience remains strong.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules and procedures.
• Math skills for calculations, percentages and inventory controls.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit control.
• Ability to operate IBM cash register to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring and termination processes.
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and policies.
• Provide training, conduct performance evaluations, and counsel when needed.
• Make recommendations on pay rates and advancement.
• Communicate performance expectations; lead meetings on safety and policies.
• Open and close store at least twice weekly with proper procedures.
• Evaluate operating statements for trends, profits and shrink.
• Forecast orders to meet in-stock targets; manage cycle counts.
• Ensure proper merchandise presentation, pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and cashier accountability.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and cover store operations.
