Huck’s Market Assistant Manager
Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, in a manner that contributes to the increased profitability of the store and assists the manager in management functions. An Assistant Manager must be willing to accept a promotion and assume the responsibilities of a store manager upon completion of training programs and as an opening is available. The option to relocate when there is an opening is negotiable.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
General Management
- Gives all customers prompt and courteous service, including greeting customers using the gasoline intercom and adhering to Best In Class standards.
- Observes shift operating hours as assigned by the Store Manager, including helping to fill shifts.
- Works the store manager's days off and at least two evening shifts per week to ensure strong staffing during peak hours.
- Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
- Effectively communicates with store associates and management.
- Follows all applicable laws and ordinances related to store operation.
- Serves as a role model for other associates.
- Reports all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Ensures all associates are in proper uniform and providing prompt, courteous customer service.
Bookkeeping
- Completes shift change reports at beginning and end of shifts.
- Records all hours worked accurately via computer.
- Processes sales, over rings, and refunds as per policies.
- Completes daily paperwork and makes store deposits as directed.
Human Resources
- Treats all associates with dignity and respect, using proper personnel management techniques.
- Informs the Store Manager of any personnel issues or policy violations.
Security
- Ensures shift procedures are followed.
- Maintains a safe shopping and working environment.
- Handles cash and merchandise securely.
- Follows vendor check-in procedures.
Merchandising
- Keeps store stocked and displays fronted.
- Maintains equipment and prepares high-margin products.
- Uses correct pricing for all merchandise.
Maintenance
- Maintains store appearance to reflect company standards.
- Keeps floors, windows, and restrooms clean and in good repair.
- Reports maintenance issues to the Store Manager.
Safety
- Follows proper lifting procedures and ladder safety.
- Uses wet floor signs and reports accidents promptly.
Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App
- Promotes the app to customers.
- Informs customers of benefits and assists with sign-up and usage.
- Monitors for misuse of points or discounts.
