Job Title: Huck’s Market Assistant Manager
Job Purpose
The Assistant Manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of their shift, within company policy, in such a manner as to ensure that the shift contributes to the increased profitability of the store and to assist the manager in management functions. An Assistant Manager must be willing to accept a promotion and assume the responsibilities of a store manager upon completion of training programs and as an opening is available. (The option to relocate when there is an opening is negotiable.)
Job Duties And Responsibilities
General Management
- Gives all customers prompt and courteous service, including greeting customers via gasoline intercom and adhering to Best In Class standards.
- Observes shift operating hours as assigned by the Store Manager, including helping to fill shifts.
- Works the store manager's days off and at least two evening shifts per week to ensure coverage during peak hours.
- Performs specific tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
- Effectively communicates with store associates and management.
- Follows all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the operation of the store.
- Provides a role model of conduct for other associates.
- Ensures Store Manager is aware of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.
- Ensures all associates are in proper uniform and providing prompt, courteous customer service.
Bookkeeping
- Completes shift change reports at beginning and end of shifts.
- Properly records all hours worked by clocking in/out on the store computer.
- Rings all sales accurately as per policies.
- Records all over rings and refunds accurately.
- Completes daily paperwork and makes store deposits as directed by the Store Manager.
Human Resources
- Treats all associates with dignity and respect, using proper personnel management techniques.
- Advises Store Manager of personnel issues or policy violations affecting store performance.
Security
- Ensures shift procedures are followed and maintains a safe shopping and working environment.
- Handles cash and merchandise securely as per company policy.
- Follows vendor check-in procedures.
Merchandising
- Keeps coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays stocked and fronted.
- Maintains equipment and prepares high-margin products as directed.
- Uses correct pricing from DSD or grocery books.
Maintenance
- Maintains store appearance to reflect company standards.
- Keeps floors clean, waxed, and buffed.
- Ensures store windows and glass are clean.
- Maintains parking lot and restrooms.
- Reports maintenance issues to the Store Manager.
- Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of food areas.
Safety
- Follows proper lifting procedures and ladder safety.
- Uses wet floor signs and reports accidents promptly.
Huck’s Bucks Loyalty App
- Promotes the app to customers and explains benefits.
- Monitors for misuse of points or discounts.
- Assists customers with sign-up and usage of the app.
