Job summary

Dollar General in Newark, OH is seeking a Cashier/Stocker who can act in a lead capacity when the Store Manager is unavailable. You will help maintain plan‑o‑grams, provide exemplary customer service, and work to maximize store profitability and teamwork while protecting assets.

You will unload trucks, stock and display merchandise, assist customers, operate the cash register, and help keep the store clean and organized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and six months of supervisory experience (or related experience/training) preferred.
• Ability to perform cash handling and operate the cash register.
• Ability to read and follow plan‑o‑gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and process merchandise according to store procedures.
• Receive, open, and unpack cartons and totes.
• Stock, rotate, and face merchandise; build displays.
• Restock returned merchandise.
• Operate cash register and process payments.
• Greet customers and assist in locating items.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety.
• Open or close the store under direction of the Area Manager.
