Job description

Join to apply for the Store Environment Team Member role at Michaels Stores.

Maintain a high standard of overall look and feel of the store, including cleanliness and recovery standards, to deliver our Brand Promises. Provide friendly customer service, assist customers in shopping, and help them find what they need.

Responsibilities include:
  • Collecting and disposing of trash following approved procedures.
  • Dusting and damp mopping floors as per guidelines.
  • Moving equipment and products for cleaning and returning products to correct places.
  • Cleansing assigned areas with appropriate materials and equipment, including mixing water and detergents if necessary.
  • Deep cleaning key areas such as bathrooms, breakrooms, entryways, and high traffic zones to ensure a safe, clean environment.
  • Maintaining cleaning equipment and notifying supervisors of supply needs.
  • Taking initiative to identify and complete cleaning tasks.
  • Following all federal, state, and local guidelines and completing tasks assigned by supervisors.
  • Maintaining positive interactions with team members and customers, serving as a role model.
Other duties may include:
  • Providing a friendly checkout experience and handling cash transactions.
  • Engaging customers about Rewards programs and Credit Cards, assisting with enrollments.
  • Supporting omni-channel processes like BOPIS and SFS.
  • Participating in unloading trucks, stocking, and planogram setup.
  • Supporting shrink and safety initiatives.
  • Adhering to SOPs and company policies for compliance.
Preferred skills and experience:
  • Retail and/or cleaning experience preferred.
Physical requirements and work environment:
  • Ability to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, and perform bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and access high shelves with ladders.
  • Work may involve outdoor tasks, climate-controlled areas, and some work outside normal hours.
