Job Description

What is a Store Driver?

Entry-level store position responsible for supporting the delivery of parts to commercial customers. The role involves delivering parts, assisting with tasks and inventory processes in the store. This position can be part-time or full-time and requires fleet safety certification.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Safely deliver parts to customers as needed
  2. Pick and stage parts for customer orders
  3. Pick up returns and cores
  4. Distribute weekly/monthly sales flyers
  5. Collect credit accounts daily

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and parking lot
  2. Stocking tasks, including truck stocking and back stock management

Success Factors

  1. Basic driving and navigation skills
  2. Proficiency with delivery board systems
  3. Friendly communication skills
  4. Ability to locate and stock parts efficiently
  5. Knowledge of safety procedures and skills
  6. Operating inventory systems and store equipment

Essential Job Skills for Success as a Driver

  1. Effective communication and relationship-building with customers, peers, and management
  2. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, parts catalogs, and manuals
  3. Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division in various units
  4. Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed

Prior Experience

Automotive parts experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must hold a valid driver's license and be fleet safety certified.

Physical Demands

Predominantly walking or standing, with the ability to talk, hear, and handle objects. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception.

Work Environment

Primarily indoor work, with occasional outdoor tasks in various weather conditions. Exposure to mechanical parts, chemicals, and noise levels is possible.
