Aquent is partnering with a leading retail brand to shape immersive spaces from concept to execution in a temporary role in Columbus, OH. You will design store interiors and storefronts, ensuring brand alignment while collaborating with construction and purchasing teams to bring concepts to life.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant degree, 2–5 years of design experience, and proficiency in design software plus MS Office. This temporary position offers benefits and 401k matching.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Industrial Design from an accredited program or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–5 years of dedicated retail design experience in corporate settings or design firms.
  • Proficiency with Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign and AutoCAD, plus strong MS Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce comprehensive designs from floor plans to storefront elevations following design guidelines.
  • Generate new concepts for architecture, fixtures, storefronts, lighting and layout.
  • Prepare material takeoffs and communicate revisions to construction teams.
  • Review construction drawings to ensure alignment with design intent.
  • Present design proposals to leadership and incorporate feedback to refine concepts.
  • Review site information from landlords and external architectural drawings for informed decisions.
  • Provide clear design guidance to purchasing and construction teams for project execution.

We are seeking a talented design professional to join their innovative team, where your vision will directly translate into engaging retail spaces, from initial concept to final execution, leaving a tangible mark on the customer journey.

About the Role

In this pivotal role, you will be an individual contributor driving the aesthetic and functional design of retail spaces. You'll have the exciting opportunity to craft designs that align with established brand guidelines while also exploring innovative concepts for store architecture, fixtures, storefronts, lighting, layout, and space planning. Your work will be crucial in ensuring a cohesive and compelling brand experience, collaborating closely with construction and purchasing teams to bring your designs to life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce comprehensive designs, ranging from detailed floor plans to impactful storefront elevations, adhering strictly to design guidelines and standards.
  • Generate creative ideas and develop new concepts for various elements of store design, including architecture, fixtures, storefronts, lighting, layout, and space planning.
  • Prepare material takeoffs and effectively communicate any revisions to the construction team to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist in the meticulous review of construction drawings, ensuring alignment with the original design intent.
  • Present design proposals to leadership, actively soliciting, analyzing, and incorporating feedback to refine and enhance concepts.
  • Review site information provided by landlords and architectural drawings from external consultants to inform design decisions.
  • Provide clear and concise design guidance to both purchasing and construction teams, ensuring seamless execution of projects.
What You'll Bring
Must-Have Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Industrial Design from a Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) institution, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-5 years of dedicated retail design experience gained within a corporate environment or a design consultancy firm.
  • Proficiency in Acrobat, Photoshop, InDesign, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong command of MS Office Suite.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $41.14 to $45.71. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
