Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is seeking a Store Cashier to provide excellent customer service, operate the cash register, and greet donors and customers on the sales floor.

You will ring up transactions, ensure accurate change and receipts, assist with stocking, and help maintain a clean, inviting store environment. Applicants should be 18+, have a High School education or equivalent, and prefer prior retail or cashiering experience; basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High School education or equivalent is preferred.
• Previous retail and/or cashiering experience is highly preferred.
• Basic computer skills and beginner knowledge of touch screen cash registers.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.
• Ring up all sales transactions and operate the cash register accurately.
• Provide prompt and helpful assistance to customers and donors; answer questions as requested.
• Direct customers to proper areas and provide general information as requested.
• Keep the register area clean and orderly; ensure correct change and receipts.
• Answer telephone calls using established etiquette; assist sales floor staff with stocking and recovery.

Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating a cash register, and greeting and assisting customers/donors.A Day in the Life of a Store Cashier!You will find yourself:Greeting each customer with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.Providing prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.Directing customers to the proper area and providing general information as requested.Ringing up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.Ensuring that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.Following all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards, and change Round Up program.Keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.Answering telephone calls promptly using an established etiquette procedure.Assisting sales floor employees with stocking and recovery.Physical and Environmental Work Conditions:• Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.• Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.• Standing and walking for long periods.• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).Education and/or Experience:• Must be 18 years of age or older.• High School education or equivalent is preferred.
