Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is seeking a Store Cashier to provide excellent customer service, ring up sales, and greet donors.

The role requires basic computer skills and experience with POS systems; candidates should be at least 18 and enjoy working in a retail environment. This position supports our mission to build lives that work through everyday transactions and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to handle cash accurately.
• Experience in retail or cashiering is preferred.
• Basic computer skills and touch screen registers familiarity are recommended.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and donors, operate cash register, and process sales.
• Provide prompt, accurate service and correct change.
• Maintain clean, organized checkout area and follow cash handling procedures.
• Assist customers with questions and direct them to proper aisles.

Major duties include ringing up all sales transactions, operating a cash register, and greeting and assisting customers/donors.A Day in the Life of a Store Cashier!You will find yourself:• Greeting each customer with a courteous, friendly, and professional attitude.• Providing prompt, efficient, and accurate customer service at all times.• Directing customers to the proper area and providing general information as requested.• Ringing up all sales transactions into the cash register and complete sales.• Ensuring that each customer receives the proper change and correct receipt for purchase.• Following all policies and procedures concerning cash, check, charge card transactions, voids, gift cards, and change Round Up program.• Keeping the register area clean and orderly at all times.• Answering telephone calls promptly using an established etiquette procedure.• Assisting sales floor employees with stocking and recovery.Physical and Environmental Work Conditions:• Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.• Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.• Standing and walking for long periods.• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push, and pull.• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).Education and/or Experience:• Must be 18 years of age or older.• High School education or equivalent is preferred.
