Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative is seeking a Senior Auditor to independently lead financial, operational, compliance, and contractual audits across the cooperative. You will assess risk, strengthen internal controls, and deliver actionable recommendations that support governance.

You will partner with leaders and teams across the organization to improve processes, present findings to management and the Board, and mentor junior auditors within a collaborative Audit Services team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Typically 512 years of related audit, accounting, finance, or risk experience, including experience independently leading audits of varying complexity.
• Professional certification such as CPA or CIA.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, IIA's IPPF, COSO, and relevant compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong judgment, objectivity, and collaboration across teams while supporting continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk-based audits of varying complexity, from planning and testing through reporting and follow-up.
• Evaluate internal controls, business processes, compliance requirements, and operational risks to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare well-supported audit findings and present conclusions and recommendations to management, executives, and the Board of Directors.
• Build collaborative relationships across AECI and with member G&T cooperatives, consultants, and external auditors.
• Provide guidance on technical accounting and audit matters while supporting risk assessments and internal control reviews.
• Mentor and help develop junior auditors while contributing to a strong, collaborative Audit Services team.
