Camp Catskill — Store Associate

Job Type: Part-time (weekend availability required)

Starting Pay: $18/hour

Camp Catskill is a small but mighty outdoor shop located in the heart of the Catskills. We offer sustainable hiking gear, outdoor apparel, and locally inspired goods. Our goal is to help people feel more comfortable outside and fall in love with everything the Catskills has to offer.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a friendly, helpful, and reliable Store Associate who shares our love of the outdoors. You’ll be the face of our shop—greeting customers, helping them find the right gear, and sharing tips about local hikes and adventures. Whether someone’s climbing a mountain or just exploring town, we want them to leave feeling inspired and prepared.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers with product recommendations and local trail info
• Operate the POS system (cash register) for sales and returns
• Prepare and ship online orders
• Receive and merchandise inventory
• Keep the shop tidy, organized, and inviting
• Restock shelves and manage product displays
• Share your enthusiasm for the Catskills and outdoor adventure

Qualifications

• Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
• Weekend availability is a must
• Proactive and self-motivated
• Familiarity with Catskills hiking and recreation areas is a big plus
• Comfortable on your feet for extended periods and able to lift up to 30 lbs
• Previous retail experience is helpful but not required
• Opportunities to learn more about hiking, outdoor brands, and specialty retail
• Eligible to enroll in 401(k) after 6 months of service
