Base pay range

$16.00/hr - $17.00/hr

As a Store Associate, you will be responsible for offering fast and friendly customer service in our gas station. The Store Associate is responsible for performing all cashiering, stocking, cleaning and customer service duties that focus on providing an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service
2. Assess customers needs and provide assistance and information on product features
3. Welcome customers to the store and answer their queries
4. Maintain assigned areas in-stock and in presentable condition
5. Actively seek out customers in store
6. Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
7. Perform housekeeping duties, as assigned and assist in maintaining a clean and inviting store appearance
8. Process POS (point of sale) purchases
9. Assist in ensuring that all pumps, equipment, signs and facilities are functioning and look good
10. Work in the walk-in cooler
11. Maintain a safe work environment
12. Adhere to tobacco and alcohol sales regulations
13. Cross sell products
14. Handle returns of merchandise
15. Maintain all food service and beverage areas
16. Team up with co-workers to ensure proper customer service
17. Build rapport with customers and provide a pleasant shopping experience
18. Comply with inventory control procedures
19. Suggest ways to improve sales (e.g. planning marketing activities, changing the store’s design)

Skills

1. Proven work experience as a Retail Store associate, Sales representative or similar role
2. Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
3. Proficiency in English
4. Basic Math skills
5. Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time
6. Ability to lift and stock cases that can weigh up to 50 pounds
7. Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements
8. Familiarity with inventory procedures
9. Solid communication and interpersonal skills
10. A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
11. Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner
12. Ability to understand and comply with company policies and procedures relating to the safe and proper handling of convenience store and petroleum products
