Assistant Store Manager - starting at $16.50 per hour

Position Description

The Store Assistant Manager will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, managing staff, and maintaining store profitability. The ideal candidate will have a passion for retail, strong leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to managing a busy convenience store.

Responsibilities
Customer Service & Store Environment
  • Greet and assist customers professionally and friendly.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
  • Monitor service standards to ensure a positive shopping experience.
Staff Management
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and onboarding new employees.
  • Delegate tasks and oversee daily activities of store associates.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and feedback to team members.
  • Maintain staff schedules and ensure proper coverage.
Operations & Inventory Control
  • Manage inventory levels, including stock ordering and receiving.
  • Conduct regular stock checks.
  • Handle products properly, including rotation and quality control.
  • Enforce store policies and procedures.
Sales & Financial Performance
  • Promote store products and services to drive sales.
  • Help achieve sales goals.
  • Monitor cash handling and sales transactions.
  • Support store budget management and expense control.
Health & Safety Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Conduct store inspections for hazards.
  • Support safety initiatives and protocols.
Reporting & Administration
  • Assist with payroll, staffing reports, and inventory records.
  • Prepare reports on sales, inventory, and performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years in retail or convenience store management, with 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher education is a plus.
Skills & Abilities
  • Leadership and team-building skills.

  • Ability to handle difficult situations calmly.
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Proficiency with POS systems, MS Word, Excel, and inventory software.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Reports To
  • Store Manager / Territory Manager
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Bend, squat, reach, and climb ladders as needed.
  • Work in cold environments when restocking.
  • Handle cash and operate registers.
  • Perform repetitive tasks efficiently.
  • Handle emergency situations.
